Day 1
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.
Day 2
This morning, take part in a local cooking demonstration, introducing some of the flavours of your trip before continuing on by road to Anuradhapura. (B)
Day 3
Take a tour of ancient Anuradhapura, including the giant dome of Ruwanweliseya and the 2,000 year old Sri Maha Bodhi Tree. In the afternoon drive to nearby Sigiriya. (B)
Day 4
After breakfast climb the rock citadel of Sigiriya. Enjoy incredible views of the surrounding jungles, farmlands and the beautiful 5th century frescoes. After lunch, drive to Polonnaruwa with its ruined palaces and temples. (B)
Day 5
Depart for the hill city of Kandy. En route stop in Dambulla to climb the rock temples which house unique frescoes and Buddha images. In the afternoon, take a tour of Kandy. In the evening attend a cultural show. (B)
Day 6
This morning take part in a market visit and cooking class and learn some of the secrets of Sri Lankan cuisine. After lunch, drive the short distance to Peradeniya and see the magnificent royal botanical gardens. (B)(L)
Day 7
Depart for Kandy, stopping at a tea estate. Continue on to charming Nuwara Eliya, in the heart of tea country. (B)
Day 8
Another scenic drive through the hills brings you to beautiful Ella, a quaint hillside village. The rest of the day is at leisure. (B)
Day 9
This morning take a scenic train ride to Haputale. Continue by road to Udawalawe and take an afternoon safari into the national park, famous for its elephant herds. (B)
Day 10
This morning visit the Elephant Transfer Home, where orphaned and injured elephants are rehabilitated. Take a scenic drive to charming Galle, the beautifully-preserved fort town overlooking the Indian Ocean. (B)
Day 11
Take a walking tour of the Galle Fort with its wonderful fusion of Dutch, Portuguese, Moorish and British architecture. There is plenty of free time to explore the cobbled streets and cafes at your leisure. (B)
Day 12
Depart Galle and stop at Lunuganga Estate, the former home of architect Geoffrey Bawa. (B)
Day 13
Transfer to the airport after breakfast. (B)
