Day 1

Johannesburg - Sabi Sands, South Africa

Fly from Johannesburg to Skukuza Airport. Transfer to Sabi Sabi Game Reserve, set within the world renowned Sabi Sand in the southern section of Kruger National Park. The reserve is home to the Big Five - elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo - as well as cheetah, wild dog and hundreds of other species of animals and birds. Highly trained and experienced rangers and trackers will ensure that your safari experience ranks amongst the best in the world. Spend three nights at the luxurious Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge. (L)(D)

Day 2

Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge

Wake early for a morning game drive in this game-rich paradise. Following a beautiful breakfast, opt for a walking safari with one of the expert guides or relax by the pool overlooking the busy waterhole.

Later this afternoon, head out on a game drive. Your guide will be sure to find you the perfect spot for a sundowner before making your way back to the lodge on the look-out for the many nocturnal species. (B)(L)(D)

Day 3

Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge

Make the most of your final full day in Sabi Sabi. The Reserve is home to the Big Five and is particularly well known for its Leopard sightings.

This afternoon, treat yourself at the Amani Spa - The perfect place to rest and relax, before heading out on your final evening game drive. Back at the lodge, share stories of your safari over a glass of wine in the outdoor boma.

Day 4

Sabi Sands, South Africa - Cape Town, South Africa

Leave the wilderness of the bush for cosmopolitan Cape Town, fondly known as the Mother City. The city is set against the backdrop of the iconic Table Mountain plateau. (B)

Day 5

Cape Town, South Africa

The morning starts with a city tour which will take you by cable car to the top of Table Mountain, through the Malay Quarter, City Centre and Company Gardens. The afternoon’s private wine tour visits Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. Here you will be able to sample some of South Africa’s finest wines. (B)

Day 6

Cape Town, South Africa

Today you will visit to Robben Island, the World Heritage Site and Museum where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. Returning to the mainland, continue on a private tour to Cape Point Nature Reserve. During your time in Cape Town you’ll stay at the Victoria & Alfred Hotel. (B)

Day 7

Cape Town, South Africa - Sossusvlei, Namibia

Fly to Windhoek, connecting on to Kulala Desert Lodge. Situated at the foot of the majestic Sossusvlei Dunes, each thatched and canvas tent has a flat rooftop for sleep-outs under the stars. (B)(L)(D)

Day 8

Sossusvlei, Namibia

This morning you will have an early start as you head out to the Soussuvlei dunes. Kulala Desert Lodge has private access to the dunes. Hike up Big Daddy Dune for sunrise – the new light paints the dunes and desert plains a variety of deep reds, apricot and purple. On the way down visit Deadvlei - A huge white clay pan filled with dead camelthorn trees – It is a surreal sight.

This afternoon explore the vast Kulala Wilderness Reserve and its many trails either on foot or by electric powered ‘fat bikes’ Keep an eye out for the various desert-adapted wildlife that call this place home. (B)(L)(D) 

Day 9

Sossusvlei, Namibia - Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Return to Windhoek and fly on to Victoria Falls. Known locally as ‘the smoke that thunders’, the Falls are one of the most majestic sights on the African continent. Stay at the stately Victoria Falls Hotel. This evening watch the sunset while cruising on the Zambezi River. (B)

Day 10

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Today enjoy a privately guided tour of the Falls followed by the afternoon at leisure. (B)

Day 11

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe - Chobe, Botswana

Transfer by road to Chobe Game Lodge, the only lodge inside Chobe National Park, situated on the game-rich riverfront. Chobe Game Lodge is perfectly placed for safaris on game viewing boats or 4X4 game drive vehicles. (B)(L)(D)

Day 12

Chobe, Botswana

Today, enjoy a full day within Chobe National Park, home to the largest concentration of elephants.  The famous Chobe River provides a permanent source of water in the region which produces a high volume of wildlife. Explore the beauty of the river on an electric boat safari or dive deep into the National Park on a 4WD game drive.

Day 13

Chobe, Botswana - Okavango Delta, Botswana

Transfer by light aircraft to the exclusive Qorokwe Concession in the south east of the delta, bordering the renowned Moremi Game Reserve.  Qorokwe has eight elegant tented suites and a fantastic main deck that overlooks a lagoon. (B)(L)(D)

Day 14

Okavango Delta, Botswana

The Qorokwe Concession has permanent water all year round. Float along the crystal-clear Okavango waterways by mokoro as you search for painted reed frogs and waterlilies.

This afternoon step out into the wilderness on a nature walk with your specialist guide. A walking safari gives you an opportunity to spot the smaller species often missed on a game drive. (B)(L)(D)

Day 15

Okavango Delta, Botswana

Venture out on an early morning game drive. This area boasts enormous concentrations of plains game and predators, with the surrounding floodplains teeming with game year round.

Tonight, scan the bushveld during your evening drive for nocturnal mammals such as civets, genets, bushbabies, owls and leopard. (B)(L)(D)

Day 16

Okavango Delta, Botswana - Nairobi, Kenya

Today farewell Southern Africa and travel to the wide open plains of East Africa. Spend the night at Hemingways Hotel in Nairobi. (B)

Day 17

Nairobi, Kenya - Masai Mara, Kenya

Travel by air to Mara Plains Camp located in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy which abuts Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve. This intimate camp blends the finest wildlife viewing with outstanding hospitality and guiding. Extensive traversing on the private conservancy and the Masai Mara ensures phenomenal game viewing. Day 18

Masai Mara, Kenya

An early morning game drive on the 35,000 acre private conservancy is a perfect way to start the day. Due to the sheer size of the conservancy, you are likely to enjoy animal sightings without another vehicle in sight.

This afternoon visit the local community to learn about the Maasai culture. (B)(L)(D)

Day 19

Masai Mara, Kenya

A full day visit of the Masai Mara National Reserve awaits. Covering 1,510 Square km, it provides abundant wildlife, incredible vistas and endless plains.  It is home to two millon wildebeest and 300,000 zebra which make up the Great Migration. (B)(L)(D)

Masai Mara, Kenya - Serengeti, Tanzania

At dawn, rise as the sun greets the day and float in whichever direction the winds of the morning take you. Day 23

Serengeti, Tanzania - Ngorongoro, Tanzania

Today continue to the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. A full day is spent game viewing on the crater floor where endangered black rhino are protected within its rim, elephants wander the forests, black-maned lions stalk the grasslands and flamingos crowd the soda lakes. (B)(L)(D)

Day 24

Ngorongoro Crater, TANZANIA

Wake up to an incredible view over the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact caldera. Interact with the KopeLion conservation team and discover how these conservationists are fostering lion-people coexistence. Indulge in a gourmet feast on the Crater floor watching the diverse variety of animals enjoy the lush green grass.

Day 25

Ngorongoro, Tanzania - Kigali, Rwanda

Travel by road back to Kilimanjaro Airport for your scheduled flight to Kigali. Spend the night at the Kigali Serena Hotel. (B)

Day 26

Kigali, Rwanda - Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

Travel to Bisate Lodge, your home for the next two nights. Bisate Lodge is an exquisite luxury lodge dedicated to sustainable conservation and community. Positioned right next to Volcanoes National Park, this is a fantastic base to visit the famous mountain gorillas. (B)(L)(D)

Day 27

Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

After you have had an early breakfast, you will enter Volcanoes National Park. There is a briefing by the guides on how to behave in the forest and in the presence of mountain gorillas. You then enter the park for a gorilla trek which will take you until around midday depending on where you find them.

Once the gorillas are located all fatigue is forgotten, as the experience is often described as being the most profound natural history experience in the world. (B)(L)(D)

Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda - Kigali, Rwanda
