The spectacular Rocky Mountains offer visitors a true taste of wilderness, with national forests and monuments in abundance. Wyoming is home to rugged beauty, unspoilt nature and diverse wildlife, with plenty of chances to fulfill your Western cowboy dreams. Here you'll find the world's first national park, Yellowstone, famed for its colourful hot springs, mudpots and geysers and the beautiful mountain ranges of Grand Teton National Park. Montana's Glacier National Park has spectacular hiking trails, with glimpses of grizzly and black bears, moose, bighorn sheep, elk, mountain lions and other wildlife. North and South Dakota give an insight into Native American culture and the history of the West, while Colorado's mountains and 300 days of sunshine annually make it nature's perfect plaground, year round.
Crossing various time zones, there is always good weather somewhere in the United States. Summer is the most popular time to visit, but winter offers plenty for the more active looking for snow. Los Angeles weather ranges from 14-25ºC degrees year round with New York averaging from 5-30ºC degrees.
THE WILD WEST The Rocky Mountain region is one of the best places in the US to experience authentic Western ranch life. In Montana, saddle up for trail rides, barn dances and chuckwagon races or bunk down in a ranch in Wyoming.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK Yellowstone offers over 9000 square kilometres of unspoiled natural splendour. Camp by a crystal-clear lake as a bald eagle soars overhead, observe free-roaming elk and bison in their native habitat or gaze in wonder as one of Yellowtone's famous geysers thunders skyward.
RANCH LIFE Get a taste of the real ‘Wild West’, known for its horses, hats, history and hospitality. Ranch life offers the opportunity to experience lifestyles and landscapes which appear to have been untouched by the modern world.
COLORADO From the highest sand dunes in the north and 54 Rocky Mountain peaks that rise over 4000 metres to re-rock formations that seem to rip from the earth to the rolling grasslands of the eastern plains, Colorado has one of the most unique and varied natural landscapes in the world.
NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURE Few cultures or groups of people have as rich and varied a history as Native Americans filled with struggle, strife and triumph. Today Native American tribes continue to maintain their cultural heritage through painting, carving, sculpting and traditional dress.
HISTORY Explorers and outlaws alike have long spent time exploring the Rocky Mountains, including Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid who supposedly picked up their nicknames in Wyoming.
