Day 1

Cuzco - Salkantay Lodge

In the morning visit the Quillarumiyoc archaeological site on the way to the town of Mollepata.
In the afternoon you will lunch at El Pedregal before your first trek to the flagship Salkantay Lodge. (L)(D)

Hiking Level: Easy to Moderate

Day 2

Humantay Lake

Early morning round-trip hike to the turquoise waters of Lake Humantay with views of Mt. Salkantay.
In the afternoon you will lunch at Salkantay Lodge and afternoon at leisure. (B)(L)(D)

Trekking Time: Approximately 4 hours
Hiking Level: Moderate

Day 3

Salkantay Pass

In the morning journey through the Salkantay River Valley as you begin your climb to the Salkantay Pass
In the afternoon, after marveling at the majesty of the Salkantay Peak and patting yourself on the back for a job well-done, enjoy lunch on the mountain before heading down to Wayraccmachay. (B)(L)(D)
Trekking Time: Approximately 7 hours
Hiking Level: Challenging, crossing a 4,640m/15,200 ft mountain pass

Day 4

Cloud Forest

In the morning begin your descent into the cloud forest on the way to Colpa Lodge. The descent is along the Salkantay River, where warm air starts rising from the jungle, accompanied by colourful butterflies and striking orchids. 
In the afternoon, upon arrival, the staff will be waiting for us with a traditional Pachamanca lunch; afternoon at leisure. (B)(L)(D)

Day 5

Santa Teresa River Valley

In the morning descend along the Santa Teresa River towards Lucmabamba. The hike will be through more populated rural ares, passing through banana, granadilla and avocado orchards.
In the afternoon you will have a picnic lunch along the river, followed by a short hike & a van ride; afternoon visit to a local coffee plantation before arrival. (B)(L)(D)

Hiking Level: Moderate to Challenging 

Day 6

Llactapata Pass – Aguas Calientes

In the morning travel uphill through the cloud forest to the Llactapata Pass for a seldom-seen view of Machu Picchu.
In the afternoon you will lunch en route followed by a winding descent to the Aobamba River Valley, ending the day with a 30-minute train ride to Aguas Calientes. (B)(L)(D)

Trekking Time: Approximately 5 hours
Hiking Level: Moderate to Challenging

Day 7

Machu Picchu – Cuzco

Early morning guided tour of Machu Picchu followed by free time for further exploration or a hike up Huayna Picchu.
In the afternoon you will lunch in Aguas Calientes; afternoon train ride and van transport back to Cusco (11,021’/3,360m)  (B)(L)

Hiking level: Easy to Moderate
