Day 1

Nairobi - Lewa Wilderness

Transfer from your hotel to Wilson Airport for the scheduled flight to Lewa Conservancy where you will spend three nights at Lewa Wilderness.

Lewa Wilderness Lodge is situated near the base of Mt. Kenya - Africa's second tallest mountain. The lodge has nine exclusive rooms; each cottage is tastefully decorated with antique and homemade furniture, giving each rustic charm and the character of a ranch homestead. You can relax and enjoy a drink in the cosy sitting room after a long day, stargaze out on the deck or converse with other guests around the log fire. The lodge also has a stunning infinity pool, fitness centre, tennis court and a table tennis table. The dining room enjoys a fabulous view of the hillside opposite providing game viewing opportunities whilst tucking into delicious breakfast and lunch buffets. In the evening, gather around the long dining table to have a seated and served dinner listening to the sounds of the African night.

At Lewa Wilderness enjoy activities including game drives, walking with Maasai, camel safaris, a canopy walk and visits to a Maasai village. (L)(D)

Day 2

Lewa Wilderness

Today you will enjoy morning and afternoon game activities.

Game-drive.jpg

The advantage of being located in the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is that guests are surrounded by rich game viewing opportunities without the crowds. There is a very good chance of seeing all of the “Big Five” and Lewa is one of the only conservancies where guests are almost guaranteed to see the endangered black and white rhinos while on safari. With the backdrop of snow-capped Mount Kenya and the diversity of scenery from open plains, rolling hills, valleys, escarpments and rivers, Lewa is a magical place to game drive for the ultimate Kenyan safari experience. And with our new electric game drive vehicles, we’re leading the charge in wildlife and environment-friendly game viewing.

Guests are welcome to go for a walk with one of our trained Maasai guides to enjoy the environment from a different perspective. There is nothing more thrilling than watching rhino or elephant grazing in the morning light whilst you are on foot, or following the tracks of a leopard. Walks can be as easy or as hard as you like.  (B)(L)(D)

Day 3

Lewa Wilderness

At Lewa Wilderness, guests can choose beyond the normal safari transport options and opt to see the conservancy from a different view – on the back of a horse or even on the back of a camel! Just two minutes’ walk from the lodge, the Lewa Wilderness stables are home to over 30 horses and ponies. Alternatively, head on over to our camel guides and once you’ve experienced the swaying movement of the camel standing up from the ground where you’ve mounted, you’ll be led on an ambling walk through the Lewa plains. The soft lulling motion of the impeccably cared for camels fits in perfectly with the quiet and gentle landscape.  (B)(L)(D)

Day 4

LEWA WILDERNESS – GOVERNORS’ CAMP, MAASAI MARA

Enjoy an early morning game activity before flying to Governors’ Camp in the Masai Mara.

Governors Camp lies on the banks of the Mara River, in the west of the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The Camp is in a spot once reserved for the colonial governors of Kenya and their royal visitors. When created in 1972, it set new standards in luxury as a tented camp, placing particular emphasis on comfort and service. Maintaining these qualities, the camp has been refined and improved over the years. However, special care has been taken to preserve an atmosphere in which today's traveller may share some of the experiences of a classic safari and enjoy the landscape and wildlife that so inspired adventurers such as Hemingway. Tents are carefully positioned for uninterrupted views from their verandas and are stylishly decorated.

Explore the reserve on twice daily game drives in custom built 4WD land rovers. Governors’ Camp also offers Hot Air Balloon Safaris at an additional charge. (B)(L)(D)

Day 5

GOVERNORS’ CAMP, MAASAI MARA

You will be rising at dawn with tea and coffee, depart for an early morning game drive before breakfast, catching the animals before the heat of the day sets in. You will enjoy the rest of the morning at your leisure, followed by an afternoon game drive, returning to the camp as the sun sets.

Governors’ Camp combine superb locations in the Masai Mara with custom designed vehicles and exceptionally highly trained and experienced guides to give our clients un-matched game-viewing and photographic opportunities in the world’s prime wildlife area. (B)(L)(D)
