Day 1

MUMBAI

Arrive in Mumbai where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2

Mumbai - Aurangabad

This morning is at leisure to explore or relax. In the afternoon, board the Deccan Odyssey and depart for Aurangabad. (B,D)

Day 3

Ellora Caves

Drive out to the spectacular Ellora Caves, carved into the hillside 30 km from the city. The finest specimen of cave-temple architecture in India, the site encompasses 34 rock-cut shrines representing Buddhist, Jain and Hindu art dating from the 4th century AD. Also visit Daulatabad Fort, before heading back to the city for dinner on board. (B,L,D).

Day 4

Aurangabad

Visit the old city of Aurangabad, including the Bibi-ka-Maqbara, a 400 year old replica of the Taj Mahal, and a local weaving centre. In the afternoon, continue by train for Ramtek. (B,L,D)

Day 5

Pench National Park

Today, take two safaris into beautiful Pench National Park, home to a wide variety of Indian wildlife. (B,L,D)

Day 6

Tadoba Tiger Reserve

This morning arrive into Chandrapur station, and depart for an early morning safari into the Tadoba Tiger Reserve, which has a high density of Tigers as well as wild dogs, bears and other wildlife. Have lunch at a wildlife lodge, and in the afternoon, enjoy cocktails back on board the train. (B,L,D)

Day 7

Jalgaon - Ajanta Caves

The Deccan Odyssey arrives at Jalgaon, from where you will drive to Ajanta Caves, a World Heritage site and an architectural marvel. The 30 rock-hewn Buddhist caves at Ajanta are architectural and artistic masterpieces. In the afternoon, continue towards Nashik. (B,L,D)

Day 8

Nashik

In the ancient city of Nashik, visit the Godavari Ghats observing important Hindu rituals being performed. Later visit local markets then the Grover Zampa vineyards, one of India’s prime winemakers. The rest of the day is at leisure on board. (B, L, D)

Day 9

Disembark Mumbai

Early this morning, after breakfast, you will disembark in Mumbai. Upon arrival, you will be met and proceed for a city tour including The Gateway of India, the Hanging Gardens, Mani Bhawan (the house where Gandhi stayed on his early visits to the city) and Dhobi Ghat. Also drive past Afghan Church, Flora Fountain (the city’s nerve centre),colourful Crawford Market and Marine Drive. Check in to your hotel. (B,L,D)

MUMBAI

After breakfast, at leisure until your departure transfer (B)
