Day 1
Make your way to Winnipeg where you will spend the night. This evening there will be a hosted information evening where you can meet your fellow travellers and anticipate your departure from civilisation!
Day 2
Early this morning you’ll depart Winnipeg for Churchill. Upon arrival into Churchill you will transfer to your private charter to Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge. Once you arrive at the lodge, your hosts will show you around and give you time to settle in. After lunch and an orientation, embark on an interpretative walk on the inland Palsa Bogs and Tundra Ponds adjacent to the Taiga Forest and the Hudson Bay coastline. After dinner there will be an informative lecture or presentation narrated by a local guide. If it’s a clear night you may also have the chance to view one of the spectacular Aurora Borealis displays common in this area. (L)(D)
Day 3
After breakfast your outings will begin at around 9.30am. If there are bears near the lodge your tour may be delayed to take advantage of photo and observation opportunities. You will also have the option to stay at the lodge and take photos of the wildlife around the lodge and relax. Daily outings may include the following, depending on weather and ground conditions; Morning and afternoon excursions with lunch either at the lodge or out on the trail. An ATV coastal tour to the tidal flats and Hudson Bay shoreline. Lunch is served around the campfire. A full day tour to the coastline of Hudson Bay to photograph polar bears and other abundant wildlife in their natural habitat. Lunch is served around the campfire. Stay close to the lodge to take advantage of any wildlife viewing opportunities that may present themselves. You’ll be invited to immerse yourself into the Arctic. After dinner each night, there will be lectures or slide shows from local staff. Staff will monitor the Aurora Borealis each night and, if conditions are optimal, they will provide a gentle wake-up call to ensure you don’t miss any opportunities to witness and photograph this spectacular phenomenon. This morning take advantage of any last minute photo opportunities before you catch your charter back to Churchill after lunch. Arrive in Winnipeg early in the evening where you will spend the night. (B)(L)
