Day 1
Travel to the city of Valparaiso. Enjoy a walking tour to explore the hills of Valparaiso. The city is a historic port and university town, famous for its labyrinth of hills, which are covered in quaint, colourful old houses and accessible only by a steep climb or by the city’s unique system of funicular railways. Stop at a local bakery to taste traditional Chilean empanadas. Spend the night at one of the various boutique hotels located in the stunning hills of Valparaiso.
Day 2
Today continue exploring the city. Visit Plaza de la Victoria, the famous Turri Clock and the Naval Academy. A highlight of this tour is visiting the home of Chile’s Nobel Prizewinning poet, Pablo Neruda. Visit a local artisan workshop before taking the funicular down. Drive up the coast to Vina del Mar, a sophisticated beachside resort town. Return to Santiago in the late afternoon. (B)
