Depart Hanoi early for the four hour drive to Mai Chau. Arrive in the picturesque Mai Chau Valley surrounded by spectacular karst rock formations and rice paddies. In the afternoon take a light trek through some of the other villages in the area. In the evening see a traditional Thai performance of music and dance. (L)(D)
Transfer to Pu Luong by road via a breathtaking mountain pass giving you a panoramic view of the whole valley. After lunch at Pu Luong Retreat, transfer to a suspension bridge over the Cham River to begin a walk where you will find a number of water wheels. Discover how water is moved from river to handmade bamboo aqueducts. Arriving at a local fisherman’s house, have a short rest before bamboo rafting along the river. (B)(L)(D)
Start early to descend into the beautiful valley, where you walk through tumbling rice terraces via small paths to reveal a picturesque village. Continue to the base of the valley through farmlands, villages and wild fields admiring spectacular, changing landscapes. After lunch back at your hotel, return to Hanoi. (B)(L)
