Day 1

San Francisco

Spend the day exploring the city, where highlights include Alcatraz, Lombard Street and Pier 39.

Day 2

San Francisco - Yosemite National Park

Leaving the Golden Gate city behind, travel inland to the most iconic of California’s national parks - Yosemite. Home to Half Dome, El Capitan, breathtaking waterfalls and some of the world’s oldest and largest trees, Yosemite National Park is a nature lover’s paradise.

Day 3

Yosemite National Park

Spend the day exploring the hiking trails, visit the Ansel Adams Gallery, try river rafting, horseback riding or snowshoeing or use the free Yosemite Valley shuttle to visit the many attractions around the valley floor.

Day 4

Yosemite National Park - Kings Canyon & Sequoia National Parks

Depart Yosemite this morning as you travel south to the next national parks on the journey. The dramatic landscape of Kings Canyon & Sequoia National Parks testifies to nature’s size, beauty and diversity. Huge mountains, rugged foothills, deep canyons, vast canyons and the world’s largest trees await.

Day 5

Kings Canyon & Sequoia National Parks

Whether you prefer a short stroll or a strenuous hike, adventure abounds here. In both parks, you can wander through groves of the largest tree on earth, and Sequoia is home to General Sherman, the largest living tree on earth.

Day 6

Kings Canyon & Sequoia National Parks - Death Valley National Park

A longer drive today, heading to the hottest, driest and lowest national park in the US. A land of extremes, Death Valley is located below sea-level and covers a diverse terrain, including salt-flats, sand dunes, canyons and mountains.

Day 7

Death Valley National Park - Palm Springs

Spend the morning exploring Death Valley before departing for Palm Springs. Playground to the Hollywood elite, Palm Springs is renowned for its stylish hotels, golf courses and spas. Explore the unique architecture of the city, check out the vintage boutiques or take a ride on the Aerial Tramway to ascend 2.5km to a pristine wilderness aboard the world’s largest rotating tramcar.

Day 8

Joshua Tree National Park

Named for the region’s twisted, bristled Joshua trees, this national park is characterised by rugged rock formations and stark desert landscapes. A fascinating variety of plants and animals make their homes in a land sculpted by strong winds and occasional torrents of rain. Activities in the park range from hiking and nature walks to horseback riding, rock climbing and star gazing.

Day 9

Palm Springs - Los Angeles

Travel back towards the Pacific Coast today as you drive to Los Angeles for a final stay. Hike the Hollywood Hills, shop ‘til you drop on Rodeo Drive, check out one of LA’s amazing restaurants or take in a local sporting event.

Day 10

Los Angeles

Check out of your hotel and return your rental car as your national park exploration comes to an end. NOTE One way rental fee from San Francisco to Los Angeles is included in the price, but must be paid locally.
