Venture further into the Peruvian Amazon to the Tambopata Research Centre in an area unrivalled in its access to pristine forests, wildlife and the world’s largest macaw saltlick.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Refugio Amazonas

    Upon arrival from Lima or Cuzco, two hour trip by motorised canoe to Refugio Amazonas.

  • Day 2: Tambopata Research Centre

    Morning visit to the 25 m canopy tower. Travel by motorised canoe to Tambopata. Afternoon hike on the Bamboo Trail, also the home of the howler and dusky titi monkeys.

  • Day 3: Tambopata Research Centre

    Visit the world’s largest macaw clay lick. Afternoon hike and climb the observation tower for bird watching.

  • Day 4: Refugio Amazonas

    Return to Refugio Amazonas. After lunch, hike to Condenado Lake for lakeside wildlife viewing.

  • Day 5: Refugio Amazonas – Puerto Maldonado

    After breakfast, return to Puerto Maldonado.
