Itinerary

  • Week 1-2: Lima – Cuzco

Begin your journey in colonial Lima, the capital of Peru, then travel south to Paracas National Park, a coastal wildlife reserve. Take a boat trip to see the seals and seabirds on the Ballestas Islands, before visiting the mysterious Nazca Lines. Spend two nights in the beautiful white city of Arequipa, then take a guided trip to the Colca Valley to look for condors. Continue in the Andes to Cuzco. You have the choice of hiking unspoilt Inca Trails and visiting remote Quechua communities, or trekking the classic Inca Trail up the Royal Inca Road. Spend time in and around Cuzco and the Urubamba Valley, and tour all the major sites in the Sacred Valley.

  • Week 3: Cuzco – La Paz

Explore Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas, on a guided tour, then traverse the high altiplano of Peru to Lake Titicaca. Visit the pre-Inca Sillustani Ruins near Puno, and experience Lake Titicaca and its ancient history as you cross the border into Bolivia, including boat trips to Uros Islands and Isla del Sol. Stay in the pretty lakeside colonial town of Copacabana, before arriving in the vibrant Bolivian capital of La Paz.

  • Week 4-5: La Paz – Cafayate

Overland across the stunning Altiplano to the colonial city of Potosi, the world’s highest city. Then explore the dazzling Uyuni Salt Flats, travelling by jeeps in this extraordinary landscape. Continue to remote southern Bolivia, and visit the beautiful Laguna Colorado and Laguna Verde. Overland through high passes and stunning mountain vistas into Argentina. Explore the colonial city of Salta and the many exciting activities of the surrounding area, then travel to the heart of the Argentinian wine region, to discover the bodegas and stock up on wine in Cafayate.

  • Week 6: Cafayate – Buenos Aires

Spend three unique days enjoying the hospitality at an Anglo-Argentinian estancia, perhaps riding pure bred horses in the hills. Continue to colonial and cultural Cordoba, Argentina’s second-largest city, before finally arriving in cosmopolitan Buenos Aires.
