Samoa forms the heart of Polynesia. One of the last bastions of Polynesian culture, life among the majority of Samoa’s population of 160,000 has changed little and time honoured customs are a part of everyday life. The country is made up of two main islands, Upolu (home to the capital of Samoa, Apia) and Savaii, the Big Island. Samoa offers the visitor a very special holiday experience. There are kilometres of white sand beaches, waterfalls and traditional villages with unique people and culture.

Itinerary

  • Days 1-3: Arrive Samoa.

    Accommodation – Aggie Grey's Hotel & Bungalows in Apia. Your rental vehicle will be delivered to Aggie's Hotel on day 3. During your time in Apia we recommend you take time to visit Robert Louis Stevenson's home and museum, the Sliding Rocks and some of Upolu's pristine beaches like Matareva and Lalomanu, you can do this in your own vehicle or contact Polynesian Xplorer.

  • Days 4-6: Take the ferry with your car to the island of Savaii.

    Accommodation – Tanu Beach Fales. The ferry trip will take you just over an hour and then just a 45 minute drive & you are in paradise, “Tanu Beach Fales.” Here you will experience true Samoan family hospitality staying in a traditional open-style fale (Samoan home) right on the beach. Although this is a favourite with all who visit we understand this is not for everyone and for those who prefer a few more creature comforts we can recommend alternate accommodation options. During your time on Savaii we recommend you take time to visit the blow holes, Falealupo rainforest canopy walk and just soak up the sun at one of the many beautiful beaches. Please note that when stopping at some villages and beaches you may be asked to make a small donation.

  • Days 7-10: Bid farewell to your new family at Tanu Beach as you now make your way back to Upolu.

    Accommodation – Aggie Grey's Lagoon Resort & Spa. Your last three days are to kick back & relax at the newest resort in Samoa. A visit to the Manaia Polynesian Spa is a must and a fantastic way to complete your Samoan experience.
