Itinerary
Venice & Verona
After an evening in Venice we visit the carnival mask workshop in the city for a demonstration and explanation of the whole working process. We then enjoy a guided tour of Venice including its famous sites such as St. Marks Square and Ponte dei Sospiri before being transferred to Lake Garda where we stay for the remaining time on the trip. The holiday also includes a day trip to the UNESCO world heritage city of Verona with its historical centre, museums and churches.
Lake Garda
We use the hotel as a base to explore this wonderful area in a splendid setting Torbole near Riva del Garda, it certainly is a peaceful place to relax and unwind or to take a dip in the swimming-pool; soak up the warm Mediterranean sun on the terrace with lake views or simply enjoy a stroll around the gardens.
Walks around the lakes
We spend the next day discovering the Riva area. This includes taking a route along the river as far as Nago and onto Riva del Garda. We also transfer to the town of Arco, just north of Lake Garda. Arco Castle, which dates back to the 12th Century, is perched above the town where it dominates and stands guard over the old town centre below. There is also another full day where we visit three lakes in the areafor walks; Lake Ledro, where we visit sites including evidence of human settlements from the Bronze Age, Lake Tenno, where we visit the castle and ancient town of Frapporta and finally, Lake Toblino, where we visit the town's fairytale like castle on the lake shore. This day ends at Cantina Toblino where we sample the local wines and have a guided visit of the Cantina. We take a ferry to Malcesine the following day and then a cable car to Mount Baldo where we enjoy a steady walk up to the mountain lodge with its panoramic views of the area. The active week is completed with a morning mountain bike trip in the Pregasina area with optional afternoon activities including canoeing or additional walks.
