This fascinating cultural journey explores the historical and cultural landscapes of Ukraine and Moldova, including the Crimea peninsula and Black Sea Coast. Moldova is small and off the beaten track, but offers a very warm welcome, while Ukraine’s attractions range from elegant Lviv to very lively Kiev.

Itinerary

  • Day 1-2: Lviv

    Your tour begins in Lviv, one of Europe’s most elegant cities. Explore its old market square, castle, and the Old Rus quarter.

  • Day 3-4: Ternopol – Chernivsti

    Travel off the regular tourist circuit through Ukraine, visiting Ternopol and cosmopolitan Chernivsti.

  • Day 5-6: Moldova

    Cross the border into Moldova, one of the smallest, newest and friendliest countries in Europe. Tour the capital, Chisinau, with optional possibilities to visit the extensive Cricova wine cellars, known for their excellent wine.

  • Day 7-8: Odessa

    Return to Ukraine to explore Odessa, one of the wealthiest cities in the region and the largest seaport. Stroll along the seafront and among the many historic buildings, before boarding an overnight train to the Crimea.

  • Day 9-11: The Crimea

    On arrival in Yalta, take a boat trip on the Black Sea, visit the Khan’s Palace at Bakhchisarai, and see the scene of the doomed Charge of the Light Brigade.

  • Day 12: Sevastopol

    Enjoy a guided tour of historic Sevastopol, including the town’s historic painting “The Defence of Sevastopol”. Board the overnight train to Kiev.

  • Day 13-14: Kiev

    Tour the many sights of Ukraine’s capital. See the beautiful cathedral and the extraordinary labyrinths of the “Monastery of the Caves”.
