Itinerary

  • Day 1: Hanoi

    Arrive in Hanoi and transfer to the hotel.

  • Day 2: Hanoi – Lao Cai Overnight Train

    Explore Hanoi visiting the Mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh and the Ho Chi Minh complex. This afternoon is free for your own explorations before an early dinner and departure on the overnight train to Lao Cai (Trekking 2-3hrs). (B).

  • Day 3: Lao Cai – Sapa

    Arrive Lao Cai early this morning and transfer up the mountain road, winding along terraced hillsides to Sapa. Enjoy breakfast before a walking tour of the busy market where the ethnic minority people converge to sell their wares. Afterwards take a light trek to discover Sapa’s quaint hill tribe villages. (Trekking 7hrs). (B)(L).

  • Day 4: Sapa – Ban Ho – Nam Toong

    Trek along the fringes of the rainforest ascending to the Red Dao village of Nam Toong for lunch at a local school. Continue hiking to the beautiful village of Ban Ho, located next to a gorgeous turquoise river. A final haul uphill will bring you to the village of Supan, where your trekking ends and a jeep will transfer you the final 10km to a wonderful ecolodge. The hard work is rewarded this evening with a delicious home cooked dinner. (Trekking 6hrs). (B)(L)(D)

  • Day 5: Heaven’s Gate – Sin Chai – Lao Cai

    Travel by car to Silver Waterfall and on to Heaven’s Gate, the highest peak of roads in Vietnam. Commence your trek via waterfalls and bamboo forests. Stop to enjoy a riverside lunch before continuing to trek to Sin Chai village, where community based tourism in Sapa takes place. Afterwards, begin the journey back to Sapa then onto Lao Cai by car.   • Day 6: Hanoi – Halong Bay

    On arrival in Hanoi freshen up before departure to Halong Bay. Arrive at Halong pier and board your junk, sailing past thousands of sculpted limestone islands, including Dinh Huong Island, Ga Choi Island and Dog Island. Enjoy dinner on-board during sunset. (B)(L)(D)

  • Day 6: Hanoi – Halong Bay

    For early risers see sunrise over the Bay. Cruise back to Halong pier for return to Hanoi. Remainder of day at leisure. (B)(L)(D)

  • Day 7: Halong Bay – Hanoi

    For early risers see sunrise over the Bay. Cruise back to Halong pier for return to Hanoi. Remainder of day at leisure. (B)(L)(D)

  • Day 8: Hanoi

    Transfer to the airport. (B).
