Itinerary

  • Day 1: Saigon

    On arrival, transfer to your hotel.

  • Day 2: Saigon

    This morning visit a local home to learn how true Saigonese live and cook. Start early at a suburban Saigon market with your host, then back to the house to start your cooking, which you’ll eventually devour for lunch! After lunch return to the city centre for an afternoon city tour. (B)(L)

  • Day 3: Mekong Delta

    Journey by road to Cai Be and board your boat for a cruise of the floating market. After visiting the market continue to a cottage factory where ‘pop-rice’, rice paper and coconut candies are made. Return to the boat for the cruise to Dong Hoa Hiep Island. Lunch will be local Mekong style serving specialties of the area. (B)

  • Day 4: Saigon – Danang – Hoi An

    After breakfast transfer to the airport for the short flight to Danang. On arrival in Danang transfer to Hoi An, and take a walking tour of the ancient town centre to visit the former merchants’ homes, the 400 year-old Japanese Covered Bridge and the colourful market. Rest of the day at leisure.(B)

  • Day 5: Hoi An - Hue

    Bike along shady lanes to the village of Tra Que and see the farmers as they work on their organic herb garden. Join in at making tam huu, a local delicacy before sitting down for a light, home cooked meal including bang khoai, a speciality savoury pancake wrapped in rice paper. After the meal leave Hoi An for Hue. (B)

  • Day 6: Hue - Hanoi

    Start your day with a visit to the city’s vibrant Dong Ba Market. After exploring the market take a cyclo through the ‘Old City’ to Tinh Tam Lake and then continue to the Imperial Citadel. Lastly visit Khai Dinh’s Tomb before transferring to the airport for the flight to Hanoi. (B)

  • Day 7: Hanoi

    This morning take a walking street food tour of Hanoi’s best culinary spots with a food blogger who is the genuine, local authority on Hanoi 's food scene. Learn of strange food items and sample local treats. In the afternoon visit Hanoi’s sights on a city tour. (B)(L)

  • Day 8: Hanoi – Halong Bay

    Journey through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta to Halong City where you will board your traditional wooden junk. Enjoy lunch whilst cruising by limestone karst rock formations. As the sun sets over the bay a dinner of fresh seafood is served. (B)(L)(D)

  • Day 9: Halong Bay – Hanoi

    Weave your way back to the pier for your transfer back to Hanoi. Time at leisure before your transfer to the airport. (B)
