Itinerary

• Day 1: Saigon – Cai Be – Can Tho

  Leave bustling Saigon for the delta town of Cai Be. On arrival board your boat for a cruise of Cai Be floating market. Continue to a cottage factory where ‘pop-rice’, rice paper and coconut candies are made. Return to the boat and cruise to Dong Hoa Hiep Island. After a lunch of local Mekong style specialties continue by road to Can Tho.(L)

• Day 2: Can Tho – Chau Doc

  An early start for a boat cruise to the colourful Cai Rang floating market. The waterway becomes a maze of hundreds of boats packed with mango, bananas, papaya, pineapple, and even floating pho vendors. Afterwards, depart for the three-hour drive to Chau Doc stopping en-route at the bamboo basket-making hamlet of Long Thanh.(B)

• Day 3: Chau Doc

  After breakfast visit Chau Doc’s local market, and later take a boat to Chau Giang District where a tiny mosque serves the local Cham community. Visit a beautiful Khmer temple, and later the floating houses that double as catfish farms and perhaps catch The Chams at work with their silk weaving. Late afternoon visit Sam Mountain, an important pilgrimage site. The views from the top are spectacular and you can easily look out over Cambodia.(B)

• Day 4: Chau Doc – Saigon

  It’s an eight hour drive back to Saigon where you will arrive mid afternoon.(B)
