This two day private tour explores the incredible ruins and discovers the intriguing local village life in the Ayutthaya region. Highlights include a scenic train ride and a tour of the ruins on a local tuk tuk.
Depart Bangkok by local train for Ayutthaya, enjoying scenic views along the way. Upon arrival hop onto a “Kermit” Tuk Tuk to discover the magnificent ruins and ancient temples. Briefly stop near the Muslim quarter and sample one of the most famous delights of Ayutthaya – candy floss roti. If time permits, visit local houses to see how handicrafts such as palm leaf fish mobiles are produced and then stop by the local market and your guide can give you recommendations on which local delicacies to try. After lunch take a leisurely long tail boat ride to Bang Pa In Summer Palace and explore the majestic royal mansions and on to Wat Niwet Thammapravat. L, D.
A leisurely morning until departure to Nonthaburi on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, where you will cross by ferryboat to Koh Kret, home to one of Thailand’s oldest Mon settlements. Take a walk around the island to witness the local lifestyle and visit Wat Paramai Yikawat. Afterwards visit Ancient Mon pottery village, the oldest and largest earthenware making sources in the region. There is the option to explore the island by bicycle to take in all the interseting sites. Return to Bangkok in the afternoon. B, L.
