Itinerary

Day 1: Kuala Lumpur – Kuantan
Pick up/delivery of your rented car takes place at your KL hotel or the airport. Then, drive east towards Kuantan/Cherating. A suggested visit is the Elephant Sanctuary Camp where you can learn how the Department of Wildlife & National Parks continuously manages the conservation of the elephants. Kuantan is another three or so hours on.

Day 2: Kuantan – Marang – Gemia Island
After breakfast, an early morning drive up north to the fishing village of Marang to catch the boat to Gemia Island from Marang jetty. You are advised to arrive early at the jetty due to changing schedules of the ferry. On arrival the remainder of the day is at leisure. B.

Day 3: Gemia Island
Swim, laze around, trek into the interior portions of the island and discover the interesting flora and fauna in abundance, or simply go snorkelling. B.

Day 4: Gemia Island – Marang – Tasik Kenyir
Take the ferry back to Marang. From Marang, continue your drive to Tasik Kenyir where a unique lake is surrounded by 1000 acres of woodlands. Lake Kenyir comprises 340 islands, more than 14 waterfalls, rapids, rivers and limestone caves. B.

Day 5: Tasik Kenyir – Kota Bharu
Drive to Kota Bharu, the bastion of traditional Malay culture. In the evening it is suggested you visit the night market. Some of the best local food produce and products can be found on sale here. B.

Day 6: Kota Bharu – Kuala Lumpur (by train)
Explore Kota Bharu's market and you may also like to visit some local craft centres producing batik, songket, silverware, woodcarving and kites. There are several of such workshops on the way to Pantai Cahaya Bulan, which is 10 km north of the town. In the late afternoon drive to the Kota Bharu train station. Leave your car at the train station and board the train which leaves at 6.30pm. B.

Day 7: Kuala Lumpur
Arrive around 615am where a driver will take you to a hotel or the airport. B.
