Day 1: Huay Xai – Pakbeng
After entering Laos, meet at the immigration booth and transfer to your Luangsay boat. Enjoy a leisurely journey down the Mekong, soaking up village life and beautiful scenery en-route. Arrive into the small town of Pakbeng and the Luangsay Lodge. Pakbeng is a small town lined with wooden houses along a sleepy street on this hillside. Depending on the arrival time you may reach your hotel in time to watch the sun set over the river. L D

Day 2: Pakbeng – Luang Prabang
For early risers there is the chance to visit the morning market. The boat departs at 8.30am for the second half of the journey. En-route stop at the village of Ban Baw, where you can see how traditional rice alcohol is processed. Further down the river is Pak Ou Caves containing thousands of gold Buddha statues. Luang Prabang is another two hours downstream; arrive early evening. B L
