Kep Escape

Once a tourist mecca where King Sihanouk took his holidays, Kep was largely destroyed during the Khmer Rouge years, but has recently been revived as a little village hamlet by the sea, and a peaceful retreat.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Phnom Penh – Takeo – Kep

Early morning, leave Phnom Penh in a Southern direction for Takeo Province. On the way, you will pass Tonle Bati, an Angkorianstyle temple which remains largely intact. Continue to Takeo, a small town that is truly Cambodian in every sense. Enjoy a simple but tasty lunch at a local restaurant and observe the small city life and little children lined up along the road to welcome everyone with a “Hello Mister”. Take a boat from Takeo on the peaceful river to the archaeological museum of Angkor Borei and the temple ruins of Phnom Da.

Your next destination is Phnom Chisor, where you can climb up to the top of the mountain to explore the well-preserved ruins of a 10th century Angkorian temple and soak up the amazing views.

Continue to Kep, Cambodia’s prestigious beach resort of the 1960s which is now awakening to its former glory. (L)

  • Day 2: Kep

Early this morning, embark on a short boat trip (25 mins) to scenic Koh Tonsai, also called Rabbit Island. Spend the morning at leisure exploring the island and relaxing on the island’s beautiful tropical beach. A seafood barbecue lunch will be prepared for you on the island. Mid-afternoon, return to Kep and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.(B, L)

  • Day 3: Kep – Phnom Penh

Enjoy the morning at leisure before transfer back to Phnom Penh after lunch (B)
