Adventure World NZ
Battambang is home to a fantastic array of cultural villages and incredible rural scenery. Highlights include a ride on the Bamboo Train and visiting the cultural villages surrounding Battambang.
Depart for Battambang through rural countryside and villages. On arrival discover the relaxed lifestyle of the river town.
Head towards Phnom Sampeau, meaning “Ship Hill”. From the small temple on the top, you will have a fantastic view. Phnom Sampeau is also home to the so-called ‘killing caves’, which are cruel reminders of Cambodia’s troubled past. Your guide will then lead you through local villages and farms to Wat Banan, an 11-century temple on a mountain top. From here, you can experience a short ride on the famous Bamboo Train. In the afternoon discover some of the surrounding cultural villages where you can see how local produce, such as rice paper and fish paste, is made. You will also visit a weaving and handicraft centre. Enjoy dinner at Smoking Pot Restaurant, where you can taste original Khmer cuisine. (B)(D)
