Have a wild time seeking Sabah’s most exciting animals and learn of the preservation and plight on Borneo Island. Highlights include watching turtles lay eggs, visiting the Orang-utans at feeding time and viewing the exotic wildlife at Kinabatangan River.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Kota Kinabalu – Turtle Island

    Take a short flight to Sandakan and journey by boat to the picturesque Libaran Island, where after checking into your accommodation, you have the opportunity to explore the nearby fisherman's village and observe local life. Late afternoon, transfer to Selingan Turtle Island for the chance to witness the huge green turtles lumber ashore and lay their eggs, which are then transferred to a hatchery for an incubation period before being released back to the sea. Return to Libaran Island. B L.

  • Day 2: Libaran Island – Kinabatangan River

    Return to the mainland and proceed to the complex cave system at Gomantong for exploration. These caves are the biggest of their kind in Sabah and are where the bizarre edible bird's nest is harvested as they have been for hundreds of years. Continue to Kinabatangan River and take a boat trip to spy the unusualproboscis monkey. Take a night walk to observe the local flora and fauna (weather permitting) B L D.

  • Day 3: Kinabatangan River – Sepilok – Kota Kinabalu

    Depart Sukau for a visit to the exceptional Sepilok Orang Utan Centre. Witness the feeding of orphaned orang utans and find out about the rehabilitation process before returning to Kota Kinabalu by plane. B.
