Rajasthan is replete with sprawling stonefaced forts perched high on craggy hilltops. Elaborate palaces dot the towns and cities. Today these grand residences have opened their doors to discerning travellers. Stay at the 255-year-old fortress, Castle Mandawa, the Lallgarh Palace, Khimsar Fort, where a section of the fort still remains a royal residence and the red sandstone Fort Chanwa.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrive Delhi

    Upon arrival you will be met at the airport and transferred to the The Maidens Hotel.

  • Day 2: Delhi – Mandawa

    Morning transfer by road to Mandawa. This afternoon, visit local homes with their fresco painted walls before retiring to the first Heritage hotel of the tour, the splendid Castle Mandawa. B.

  • Day 3: Mandawa – Bikaner

    Travel by road to Bikaner, renowned for the stunning Junagarh Fort with its impressive decorative interior. Overnight at the Lallgarh Palace with its Rajput architecture. B.

  • Day 4: Bikaner – Khimsar

    Journey to the small village of Khimsar, perched on the edge of the Thar Desert. Overnight at the 16th-century Khimsar Fort. Afternoon tour to discover typical Rajasthani village life. B.

  • Day 5: Khimsar – Jodhpur – Luni

    Transfer to Luni, stopping on the way at the stunning hilltop Meherangarh Fort in Jodhpur. Stay at the unique red sandstone Fort Chanwa. B.

  • Day 6: Luni – Udaipur

    After breakfast, travel by road to Udaipur visiting the exquisite Jain temples at Ranakpur. Arrive at the historical Jagat Niwas Palace for a two night stay. B.

  • Day 7: Udaipur

    Morning tour of Udaipur includes the City Palace and holy Jagdish Temple. Afternoon at leisure to explore Udaipur’s ancient streets. B.

  • Day 8: Udaipur – Deogarh 

    Travel by road to Deogarh, famous for its miniature paintings and 17th century palace. Stay overnight at the former garrison fort, the Rawala Jajowar Hotel. B.

  • Day 9: Deogarh – Jaipur

    Journey by road to Jaipur, the Pink City. Remainder of day at leisure. Stay two nights at the Alsisar Haveli. B.

  • Day 10: Jaipur

    Full day tour of Jaipur. Visit the Amber Fort, approaching the gates on the back of a brightly coloured elephant. Afternoon visit to the City Palace Museum, Jai Singh’s Observatory and the spectacular Palace of the Winds. B.

  • Day 11: Jaipur – Agra

    Journey by road to Agra. Stay overnight at The Gateway Hotel. B.

  • Day 12: Agra – Delhi

    Tour the highlights of Agra including the celebrated Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Return by road to Delhi. B.
