Itinerary

  • Day 1: Beijing

    Transfer to the Beijing International Hotel on arrival.

  • Day 2: Beijing

    A morning tour of the Temple of Heaven followed by Tiananmen Square. After lunch visit the spectacular Forbidden City. This evening enjoy a Peking duck dinner. B L D.

  • Day 3: Beijing

    Today travel north of Beijing to see the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China. On the return journey see the 798 Art Zone. B L.

  • Day 4: Beijing – Zhengzhou

    A short excursion to see (but not enter) the 2008 Olympic Games Birds Nest and Water Cube buildings, followed by the UNESCO World Heritage Summer Palace. Later fly to Zhengzhou. On arrival transfer to the Ramada Plaza Hotel. B L D.

  • Day 5: Zhengzhou – Luoyang – Xian

    Drive to the Longmen Grottoes via Luoyang. The 17.14 metre-high stone Buddha statue is praised as Venus of the east. Travel by China's bullet train to Xian. Transfer to the Grand Noble Hotel. B L D.

  • Day 6: Xian

    Nansuo Village excursion to see rural China. Return to Xian to see the Tang Art Museum followed by the Grand Mosque and ancient Xian city walls. B L D.

  • Day 7: Xian

    A highlight today, visit the famous Terracotta Warriors. After lunch visit Wild Goose Pagoda and Baxian Gong. This evening enjoy the Tang Dynasty dinner and show. B L D.

  • Day 8: Chongqing

    Fly to Chongqing, transfer to the Hilton. B

  • Day 9: Chongqing

    Visit the Three Gorges Museum, Goose Neck Park, the zoo with pandas and Ciqikou. B L.

  • Day 10: Cruise – Fengdu

    Transfer to the 5 star cruise ship. An afternoon shore excursion to Fengdu. Visit either the Ghost City or relocation village. B L D.

  • Day 11: Cruise – Three Gorges – Daning River ‘Small Gorges’ – ship locks

    Enter the Three Gorges, one of nature’s most extraordinary sculptures. After the first gorge there is an excursion by smaller boat up the Daning River with its smaller gorges. (Please note: An alternative but similar excursion may be substituted by the River Authority). The middle gorge is best known for twelve unique peaks; six line the north side of the river and six staggered peaks stand to the south. Sail though the dam ship locks. B L D.

  • Day 12: Cruise – Three Gorges Dam

    Morning visit to the Three Gorges Dam. Re-board the ship at Yichang dock. B L D.

  • Day 13: Cruise – Wuhan

    Visit the Hubei Provincial Museum. B L D.

  • Day 14: Cruise – Huangshan

    A full-day shore excursion to Huangshan (Yellow Mountain - one of China’s most famous mountain ranges). B L D.

  • Day 15: Cruise – Nanjing

    A full day tour of Nanjing including Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and a Fuzi Miao, a Qing Dynasty style bazaar surrounding a Temple dedicated to Confucius. 9:00 pm departure for Shanghai. B L D.

  • Day 16: Shanghai

    Arrive Shanghai and transfer to the Broadway Mansions Hotel. B.

  • Day 17: Shanghai

    Transfer to the airport for the flight home. B.

Includes: Transfers in China, ten nights hotel accommodation, six nights Yangtze cruise, meals as indicated, economy domestic flights, transportation and sightseeing as specified, entrance fees, tips and gratuities (other than on the Yangtze cruise), local English speaking guides in each city and a dedicated tour leader (days 1 to 7 only) when there are six or more participants. Days 9 to 18 of this tour are independent, however a cruise Director will manage your daily activities and excursions while on the 7 day cruise.
