A tour highlight, take in the Great Wall of China at Mutianyu today. This section of the wall is less crowded to walk along and its dramatic scenery provides a picture-perfect backdrop. Return to Beijing in time to catch the evening train to Xian.
Take a half day introductory city tour of this former capital. Learn of China’s history at the provincial museum, walk the 15th century city wall and wander the Muslim Quarter. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.
The highlight of the day’s touring is the 6000-strong army of Terracotta Warriors. Only uncovered in 1974, these life-size statues have to be seen to be believed. Also take in the sacred Big Wild Goose Pagoda on your return to the city.
Fly to Shanghai with some free time on arrival to relax or soak up this eclectic destination.
