Depart by scenic day train to Datong. Transfer to your hotel on arrival.

Day 2: Datong
Experience a tour highlight with a visit to Yungang Grottoes, one of the most impressive cave complexes in China, carved from the cliffside in a honeycomb pattern and stretching for approximately one kilometre. B L.

Day 3: Datong – Mt. Wutai
Depart this morning for the Hanging Temple. On the slope of Mt. Heng, all buildings stand vertical to the cliff making the peak seem upside down. Next stop by the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, the oldest and tallest wooden pagoda in China. After lunch travel to the sacred town of Mt Wutai. B L D

Day 4: Mt. Wutai – Taiyuan
The most holy mountain of Chinese Buddhism, Mt. Wutai, is visited today with stops at the famed temples that dot the area. Journey to Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi Province. B L.

Day 5: Taiyuan – Pingyao
Transfer this morning to Pingyao to enjoy a walking tour of this ancient city. A World Cultural Heritage Site, Pingyao has a history dating back 2700 years. B L

Day 6: Pingyao – Taiyuan
Return to Taiyuan and opt to travel to Xian, Beijing or Shanghai from here. B.
