The Lhasa to Beijing train line offers alternative access to Tibet. The journey takes close to 50 hours, traversing over 4000 km, and is spent on a modern express train designed to travel at altitude.

Today’s journey takes you across stark Loesis Plateau passing through Xining, once chief hub on the old caravan route to Tibet.

Note: This train journey must be packaged with a Tibet tour due to Chinese legal requirements. This package can be amended to end in Shanghai, Xian or Chengdu at amended costs. Train tickets travelling to Lhasa from mainland China are strictly limited due to government restrictions.
