Adventure World NZ
Lhasa is one of the world’s highest cities at 3650m and is rife with friendly locals, religious structures and old-world streets.
On arrival, transfer to your accommodation situated in the bustling Tibetan Quarter. Take time to rest and acclimatise this afternoon at the city’s high altitude.
Explore the holy Jokhang Temple, the region’s most significant. Pilgrims flock from all over Tibet to worship here and to walk to the Barkhor Circuit that circumambulates the temple. Spend time here watching the pilgrims, joining in their path or just sit down and soak up the atmosphere. End the day with Sera Monastery where monks passionately debate the Buddhist scriptures in a central courtyard.
Be prepared for the awe-inspiring Potala Palace today, with its many rooms and expansive outlook. Once the winter home of the Dalai Lama, it is now Tibet’s most important tourism site and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Follow this with lunch and some free time to get lost in the Tibetan Quarter to uncover more treasures of Lhasa.
Your touring concludes today with a transfer to the airport or train station for your departure from Tibet.
