Itinerary

  • Day 1-2: Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondavels, Bourke's Luck Potholes,Greater Kruger

    Leaving Johannesburg we enter Mpumalanga Province to explore the natural spectacles of Blyde River Canyon, the Three Rondavels and Bourke's Luck Potholes. Our first night is on a private game reserve bordering Kruger National Park. We enter the famed Kruger National Park the next day for game drives. This is South Africa's best known wildlife reserve, an enormous reserve which offers unrivalled opportunities for game viewing including the 'big five', good stocks of grazing animals as well as prolific birdlife.

  • Day 3-4: Kingdom of Swaziland, Milwane Wildlife Sanctuary, Royal Enclosure

    We continue to Swaziland, the mountainous landlocked kingdom sandwiched snugly between Mozambique and South Africa. We spend two nights here and visit the Royal Enclosure, curio factories and markets, experience the local culture and check out Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary on foot.

  • Day 5-7: Kwazulu-Natal, Hluhluwe/ Umfolozi, St Lucia, Durban

    We cross back into South Africa and enter KwaZulu-Natal (Zulu-land) and travel to Hluhluwe/ Umfolozi Game Reserve. Renowned for its stocks of rhino we game drive in South Africa's oldest reserve before travelling the short distance to St Lucia.

  • Day 8: Zulu Village Experience, Dundee

    Leaving the city behind we travel through the 'Valley of a 1000 Hills' and experience and learn more about the Zulu culture. We next continue to Dundee, gateway to the site of battles waged in the early colonial days between the Zulu and the British and Afrikaaner armies.

  • Day 9-10: Battlefields, Rorkes Drift, Drakensberg Mountains

    We take in the battlefields of Blood River (Zulu/Afrikaaner), Talana Hill (British/ Afrikaaner), and Rorke's Drift (Zulu/British) and other sites of the early South African colonial conflicts. We then move on to the Drakensberg Mountains where we have time to explore on foot some of the bushman paintings and nature paths of the area.

  • Day 11-12: Royal Natal National Park, Lesotho

    After an early start we enter the Royal Natal National Park and explore South Africa's most beautiful park. We cross into the Kingdom of Lesotho where we spend the next two nights, meet the Basotho people and experience something of the life of these traditional people. There is the opportunity to try pony trekking or take guided walks.

  • Day 13: Lesotho to Johannesburg

    We cross back into South Africa and drive to Johannesburg where our tour ends.
