The Remote West

This tour presents spectacular scenery and encounters with Madagascar’s unusual wildlife. The west of Madagascar offers dry deciduous forest and is best known for its towering limestone pinnacles “tsingy”, the unique wildlife and oddshaped baobab trees.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Morondava - Kirindy

    Transfer from Morondava airport to the Kirindy Reserve for a picnic lunch. Visit the dry forest and search for mongoose, giant jumping rats and fosa.

  • Day 2: Kirindy - Bekopaka

    Visit Lake Bedo, known for its bird life and diverse flora. Continue to Belo by road and boat. Arrive at the limestone tsingy formations late afternoon.

  • Day 3: Tsingy Of Bemaraha National Park

    Tsingy in Malagasy language means “walking on tip-toe”. This is due to the extraordinary shape of these eroded lime stones. Visit the small tsingys and caves. Also look out for the Sifaka, Gidro and Aye Aye lemurs.

  • Day 4: Tsingy Of Bemaraha National Park

    Drive to the great tsingy area and spend the day exploring this region.

  • Day 5: Tsingy Of Bemaraha National Park – Morondava

    Drive back to Morondava and arrive in time to see sunset at Baobab Alley.

  • Day 6: Morondava

    Transfer to the airport.
