Itinerary

  • Day 1: Victoria Falls – Chobe National Park

Your start point is either in Livingstone (Zambia) or Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) where you are picked up and transferred to the border with Botswana. Changing onto our open vehicle we spend the afternoon game driving in Chobe National Park renowned for its huge herds of elephant.

  • Day 2-3: Savuti – Linyanti – Moremi Game Reserve

The Savuti Marsh, a relic of a large inland lake fed occasionally by the Savuti Channel. The region is also made up of rolling savannah which attracts many different species of antelope and herds of zebra wildebeest, buffalo and elephant. These in turn attract many predators including lion, leopard, hyena and wild dog. Nestled next to the Okavango Delta the Moremi Reserve offers unrivalled game viewing. The combination of different habitats from Mopane woodlands to Acacia forests, foodplains and lagoons make this area a stunning place of beauty, enhanced by the diverse array of wildlife found here.

  • Day 4-7: Okavango Delta – Makgadikgadi Pans – Victoria Falls

We continue to Maun, gateway to the Okavango and journey for a day in the ‘Delta’ in mokoros (dug out canoes) and take a game walk in search of elephant, wild dog, buffalo, lion and more. From Maun we travel to the Makgadikgadi Pans – vast shimmering salt flats on the edge of the Kalahari basin. We travel back towards Kasane and transfer into Zimbabwe and onto Victoria Falls.

  • Day 8-9: Hwange National Park

We leave Victoria Falls for Zimbabwe’s largest and best known game reserve, the Hwange National Park, home to 400 bird species and 105 species of mammals including the ‘Big Five’. We camp on the edge of the Park and after pitching tents we visit the Hwange Wild Dog Project. We then take an evening game drive in an adjacent game concession area nest to Hwange, searching for a variety of nocturnal animals including the elusive leopard. The following day enjoy morning and afternoon game driving in the national park itself.

  • Day 10-12: Bulawayo – Matopos National Park – Great Zimbabwe

Crossing Matabeleland we reach Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s second largest city. The following day we visit Matopos National Park, a place of tranquil scenic beauty, the wind sculptured Matobo Hills, Bushman paintings and of course, wildlife. From Bulawayo we travel east to the Great Zimbabwe national monument and enjoy an afternoon visiting one of the most important archaeological sites in southern Africa.

  • Day 13-14: Antelope Park Private Game Reserve – Victoria Falls

Heading for Zimbabwe’s central plateau we come to the town of Gweru and the Antelope Park Private Game Reserve. The reserve is home to numerous antelope species, as well as zebra and giraffe. We can enjoy various (optional) activities here including game drives or walks, elephant back riding, river cruise, horse riding, or - the undoubted highlight - the opportunity to ‘Walk with Lions’. The following day we return to Victoria Falls, arriving in the early evening where arrangements end.
