Drifters: Botswana Camping Safari

Botswana is known for the magnificent Okavango waterway, with its green and fertile plains, flowing straight into the sea of sand, the Kalahari Desert, and creating a unique natural wonderland – home to a multitude of Africa’s fauna and flora.

Itinerary

  • Drifters offer two variations of safaris to this area, covering the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, Okavango Delta, Moremi, Savuti, Chobe and Victoria Falls. These tours offer the traveller, photographer, birdwatcher and naturalist the ultimate natural paradise.

  • Day 1-3: Johannesburg – Makgadikgadi Pans – Maun

    Set off for the Botswana border . Overnight camping in Nata. Continue to the Makgadikgadi Pans, known for their prolific birdlife and the other desert adapted animals that they attract. Explore the area and camp wild under the star-studded night. On day three drive to Maun. Afternoon walk to a local village and evening bush braai. The 13 day fly-in guests may join the tour today.

  • Day 4-7: Maun – Okavango Delta – Maun

    Continue to the Okavango Delta. Stay three nights in true wilderness, exploring the area on foot and by mekoro. Guests will have the opportunity to do an own expense game flight over the Delta on either day four or seven. Late on day seven return to Maun.

  • Day 8-12: Maun – Moremi – Savuti – Chobe

    Head north. Spend five days exploring the Moremi, Savuti and Chobe regions. Enjoy excellent game viewing on morning and afternoon game drives. Cross the border to spend the night at the Drifters Victoria Falls Inn.

  • Day 13-14: Victoria Falls

    Visit the amazing Victoria Falls and enjoy many of the adrenaline activities available here (extra cost).

  • Day 15-16: Victoria Falls – Johannesburg

    On day 15 the guests on the 13-day tour will leave today, and the overlanders will return to Johannesburg via Nata Botswana.
