Nile Cruising Aswan To Luxor

Itinerary

• Day 1: Aswan

  Board your cruise ship. After settling in, take an afternoon tour by felucca around Elephantine Island, once the centre of life at Aswan. The tour also takes in the enchanting botanical garden and ends with a view of the mausoleum of Aga Khan.

• Day 2: Aswan – Edfu

  Continue touring Aswan, visiting the High Dam and Unfinished Obelisk. This granite obelisk is almost 42 km long, unfinished, and leaving no hint as to its intended purpose. After this, head to the magical Temple of Philae. Sail to Kom Ombo to visit the temples, then later cruise four hours to Edfu to dock for the night.

• Day 3: Edfu – Luxor

  After a comfortable night’s rest and breakfast, enjoy an excursion to the Temple of Horus in Edfu. Over 2000 years old and once a cult base for the falcon god Horus, this temple is one of the best preserved Egyptian sites in the country. Sail from Edfu to the Nile Lock at Esna, where all boats must pass through, two at a time. The journey continues to Luxor, a must-see on any traveller’s itinerary and often hailed as ‘the world’s greatest open air museum’.

• Day 4: Luxor

  Disembark and conclude your Nile touring in Luxor, visiting the Valley of the Kings, Deir el-Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon. With 62 of the tombs having been excavated within the Valley of the Kings, take the opportunity to explore three of the most important today. Also visit Deir el-Bahari, a complex of mortuary temples located on the Nile’s West Bank. Finish off the day’s touring at the Colossi of Memnon, where two gigantic statues guard the ancient temple.
