Alexandria is the second largest city in Egypt, founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC, located on the Mediterranean coast it is one of the most mythical cities in the country. Its ambience and unique cultural heritage distance it from the rest of the country, although it is only 225km from Cairo.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Cairo

    On arrival, transfer to your hotel.

  • Day 2: Cairo – Alexandria

    Depart by road to Alexandria. This afternoon visit the Alexandria Library, designed to resemble a gigantic discus embedded into the ground at an angle, representing a second sun rising beside the Mediterranean. The library walls are carved with giant letters, hieroglyphs and symbols from every known alphabet around the globe. This evening relax in one of the many restaurants and cafes along the corniche.

  • Day 3: Alexandria

    Explore the city on a full day tour visiting the Catacombs of Kom El Shokafa, the Roman Amphitheater where over 30 years of excavation have uncovered many Roman remains. Also visit Qaitpey Citadel: the fort which was built around 1480 on the site of Alexandria’s ancient lighthouse.

  • Day 4: Alexandria – Cairo

    Return to Cairo enroute visit El Alamein, famous as the place where the Allied forces of WWII gained a decisive victory over the Axis forces. There is time to visit the Commonwealth Cemetery. On arrival at Cairo, you will be taken to your hotel.
