Itinerary

From the open plains of the Masai Mara, the waters of Lake Nakuru, the swamps of Amboseli, to the views of Mount Kilimanjaro's snowy peaks, Ngorogoro and the Serengeti, this adventurous safari explores the ultimate big-game areas of Kenya and Tanzania.  It therefore provides the perfect opportunity to spot the Big Five and compare some of Africa's most diverse scenery.  Extend your amazing East African safari by adding an optional excursion to the "Spice Island" of Zanzibar with its trading and plundering history and miles of sandy white beaches.

• Day 1: Nairobi

  Transfer to the Safari Park Hotel.

• Day 2: Nairobi – Masai Mara National Reserve

  Depart Nairobi down the Rift Escarpment to the Mara Sopa Lodge. After lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive returning to the lodge as the sun sets.   

• Day 3: Masai Mara National Reserve

  Morning and afternoon game drives in the Masai Mara.   

• Day 4: Masai Mara – Great Rift Valley

  Drive across the Great Rift Valley and up the Mau Escarpment, before arriving at Lake Nakuru for lunch. The waters here are often coloured shimmering flamingo pink, from thousands of the beautiful birds lining the shores. Afternoon game drive in Nakuru National Park. Overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge.   

• Day 5: Great Rift Valley – Amboseli National Park

  After an early breakfast, depart for Amboseli with a picnic lunch. Afternoon game drive in Amboseli National Park. Overnight at the Amboseli Sopa Lodge.   

• Day 6: Amboseli National Park

  Early morning and afternoon game drives.  

• Day 7: Amboseli National Park – Lake Manyara

  Travel to Arusha for lunch. Drive across the Masai Steppe to the Great Rift Valley. The Lake Manyara Serena Lodge is perched high on the rim overlooking the park below.   

• Day 8: Lake Manyara – Serengeti

  Morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Depart for the Serengeti Sopa Lodge, with some game viewing en-route.   

• Day 9: Serengeti National Park

  Morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti National Park.   

• Day 10: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater

  Depart for Ngorongoro, stopping at Olduvai Gorge and its museum en-route. Enjoy a picnic lunch and continue to the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge.   

• Day 11: Ngorongoro Crater

  This morning descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and is also one of the world’s seven natural wonders. Return to the lodge for lunch, followed by a visit to a Masai village.

• Day 12: Ngorongoro Crater – Tarangire National Park

  Continue to Tarangire National Park, one of the best parks on the northern circuit for elephant viewing. Arrive at the Tarangire Sopa Lodge in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive.   

• Day 13: Tarangire – Nairobi

  Drive back to Arusha. After lunch, continue by road to Nairobi. Dinner at a local restaurant. Transfer to the airport for your onward flights.  

After Tour Option - Zanzibar Extension

4 Days/3 Nights from $491*

As an alternative to finishing your trip in Tarangire on day 13 you could extend your trip and finish off your holiday soaking up the culture, history and sun on the exotic spice island of Zanzibar.

Includes: Three nights accommodation, airport transfers and meals as indicated.

Excludes: Airfares from Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam.

• Day 13: Tarangire – Zanzibar

  Transfer to Kilimanjaro. Fly to Zanzibar. On arrival transfer to Stone Town.

• Day 14: Zanzibar

  Morning at leisure to discover Stone Town. Afternoon transfer to the east coast.

• Day 15: Zanzibar

  At leisure.

• Day 16: Zanzibar – Dar es Salaam

  Transfer to the airport for your flight to Dar es Salaam.
