The Treadright Foundation has proudly announced Céline Cousteau as a Treadright Ambassador

 

A leading environmentalist, adventurer and explorer, Celine Cousteau truly embodies the Treadright philosophy. 

As a documentary filmmaker and gifted storyteller, Celine has travelled the world working to help amplify the voices of the amazing individuals who are working to protect ecosystems, wildlife and people. In 2015, Treadright welcomed Celine as our official ambassador, helping us tell the stories of our projects and partners.

 

 

The World Legacy Awards

The World Legacy Awards honours the companies, organisations and destinations that are driving the positive transformation of the tourism industry, showcasing leaders and visionaries in sustainable tourism best practices, and sharing their stories with millions of today’s travellers. The World Legacy Awards align to Adventure World’s responsible travel philosophy and commitment to sustainable travel and tourism. Based on the three pillars of sustainable tourism, including environmentally friendly operations, protection of natural and cultural heritage, and support for the well-being of local communities, the categories of the World Legacy Awards are:

EARTH CHANGERS

Recognising cutting-edge leadership in environmentally friendly business practices and green technology, from renewable energy and water conservation to zero-waste systems and carbon emissions reductions.


SENSE OF PLACE


Recognising excellence in enhancing cultural authenticity, including implementing vernacular architecture and design, support for the protection of historic monuments, archaeological sites, indigenous heritage, and artistic traditions.

 

CONSERVING THE NATURAL WORLD


Recognising outstanding support for the preservation of nature, including restoring natural habitat, and protecting rare and endangered species, whether on land or in the oceans.

 

ENGAGING COMMUNITIES

Recognising direct and tangible economic and social benefits that improve local livelihoods, including training and capacity building, fair wages and benefits, community development, health care, and education.


DESTINATION LEADERSHIP

Recognising destination stewardship, including cities, provinces, states, countries, and regions that are demonstrating environmental best practices, protection for cultural and natural heritage, benefits to local people, and educating travellers on the principles of sustainable tourism.

Our Foundation


Adventure World is proud to be an active partner and supporter of the Treadright Foundation's sustainability work and projects. 

Created as a joint initiative between the Travel Corporation's (TTC) family of brands, the Treadright Foundation is a not-for-profit that works to help ensure the environment and communities we visit remain for generations to come. To date, Treadright has supported more than 35 sustainable tourism projects worldwide.

Treadright's guiding principal is to encourage sustainable tourism development through conservation, leadership and support for communities. We encourage each of our partners to use this principle to guide all of their actions, whether at our regional offices or when taking guests around the world. 

By providing grants to organisations that encourage sustainability in different destinations, we hope to maintain the natural attractions across the world that define each unique region. Foundation priorities are set by the Steering Committee, which includes sustainability leaders like Céline Cousteau and Costas Christ.

RESPONSIBLE TOURISM & TRAVEL 


At Adventure World, we promote responsible travel to areas that conserve the natural environment and improve the well-being of the local indigenous people. We believe that responsible tourism promotes positive cultural and environmental ethics and practices. Understanding the potential harm that can come from promoting tourism through many of the delicate environments in which we operate is reflected on our ideology of 'leave no trace' tourism. Working with our local ground operators, several who have won the prestigious AITO (Association of Independent Tour Operators) Responsible Tourism Award, we aim to promote responsible, sustainable tourism in all areas we visit.
