Travel from French-speaking Montreal and Quebec City to Bar Harbor, and from there follow the dramatic Atlantic coastline down to Boston. Montreal's culinary delights and liberal, laid-back atmosphere contrast with the unspoilt wilderness of Baxter State Park and the scenic island of Martha's Vineyard. The rocky granite shore around Maine is punctuated with coves and sandy beaches to explore, and there are opportunities to search for wildlife including whales, beavers, black bears, deer and moose.
