Explore the ancient city of Kathmandu with its ancient temples, shrines, Buddhist stupas and sculptures. In the Kathmandu valley, admire masterpieces of Newar architecture, explore an elegant hillside temple overrun with monkeys and stand under the towering Boudhanath Stupa. Venturing out of the city, hike the Annapurna mountains, search for rhinos and tigers in Chitwan and visit the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara.

On arrival in Kathmandu, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. For many, stepping off a plane into Kathmandu is a pupil-dilating experience, a riot of sights, sounds and smells that can quickly lead to sensory overload.
Whether you’re barrelling through the traffic-jammed alleyways of the old town in a rickshaw, marvelling at the medieval temples of Durbar Sq or dodging trekking touts in the backpacker district of Thamel, Kathmandu can be an intoxicating, amazing and an unforgettable place. Today you’ll tour Kathmandu’s Durbar Square, visit the Swayambhunath Stupa, the religious centres of Pashupatinath and Boudhanath, Patan’s Durbar Square and the medieval city of Bhaktapur. (B)
Meaning ‘Heart of the Jungle’, Chitwan is famous as one of the best wildlife-viewing national parks in Asia, and you’ll have an excellent chance of spotting one-horned rhinos, deer, monkeys and up to 544 species of birds. If you’re extremely lucky, you’ll see leopards, wild elephants and sloth bears. In the afternoon, enjoy an elephant jungle safari to observe the abundant wildlife. (B)
Today is yours to discover the park with a full day of activities available in the national park including jungle treks, bird watching, elephant safari, canoe rides and watching elephant bathing. Other options include relaxing in your luxury jungle lodge or watching elephants being washed down by the riverside. (B)
Bandipur is a living museum of Newari culture, a beautifully preserved village crowning a lofty ridge above the main road to Kathmandu. Its winding lanes are lined with traditional Newari houses and your hotel looks out to the majestic Annapurna mountain range. Your guide will show you the sights of this delightful town upon arrival. (B)
Travel by road through spectacular scenery to the lakeside town of Pokhara. Pokhara ticks all the right boxes, with spectacular scenery, adventure activities, and accommodation and food choices galore. This afternoon visit the Old Bazaar, Kali Temple followed by an evening boat ride on Phewa Lake. (B)
Today you’ll visit the spectacular Ki Singh Bridge and nearby Devi Falls before moving on to a Tibetan refugee village to discover the community’s thriving textile and carpet industry. There are plenty of lakeside cafes where you can enjoy international cuisine, while the main street is full of shops and stalls selling a wide range of Nepali and Tibetan souvenirs. (B)
Today we immerse ourselves in the spectacular mountain wilderness that encompasses the Annapurna Range. At 8,091 m, Annapurna 1 is one of the highest mountains in the world. Departing early, we drive to the village of Nayapul where we commence our trek with your local trekking guide. We gear up and follow the Bhurungi Khola until we reach Tikhedhunga (1,540m/approx. 5 hours). Overnight in a guesthouse. (B,L,D)
Take in stunning Himalayan views, experience high passes and prayer flags, hike through tiny hamlets to meet Sherpa herders along the trek. Today you’ll hike from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2,750m/approx. 6 hours). Ascend to an Ulleri Village through a pleasant rhododendron forest. Overnight in a guesthouse. (B,L,D).
Rise early to watch the sunrise over the Annapurna Ranges from the nearby Poon Hill.
Today you’ll hike from Ghorepani to Tadapani (2,700m/approx. 5 hours). At 2pm, transfer back to Pokhara where you can enjoy a well-deserved cold beer and a meal in a boutique restaurant. (B,L).
Drive the 7 hours back to Kathmandu via a spectacular mountain road. In the evening, there’s the option to take a live cultural dinner show. (B,D).
This morning is the best day to take the 8am Everest Mountain flight. You can book this at the time of booking. At 11am, check out of your hotel and transfer to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
