Our trip begins in Kathmandu. Meet your Tour Leader and the rest of the day is at leisure.
Today we take a walking tour of Kathmandu’s top attractions. (B)
Leaving the capital, we drive to Pokhara. The drive will take much of the day but the mountain views are spectacular. (B)
Depart Pokhara and drive via Nayapul to Badaldanda village where we begin our trek. The walk follows a stone path of roughly hewn steps. We finish in Ghandruk. (B)(L)(D)
We then begin the long steep ascent towards Chhomrong. The high point above the main valley is a favourite place for soaring vultures and provides us with awesome vistas. (B)(L)(D)
Descending to cross the Chhomrong Khola by suspension bridge, we enjoy excellent views of Machhapuchhre and Annapurna South. We continue to climb steeply until we reach a welcome teahouse. This afternoon we continue our ascent towards Dovan through bamboo forest to our accommodation. (B)(L)(D)
This morning the track continues up past the so-called ‘weeping wall’ and the shrine of the ‘God of the Jungle’, to the Himalaya Hotel. Passing several spectacular waterfalls, we climb through bamboo forest to reach Hinku Cave. We ascend further until we reach the small settlement of Deurali where we spend the night. (B)(L)(D)
Today we pass between Machhapuchhre and Huinchuli - the ‘Gates’ into the sanctuary. Climbing over rocky moraine we arrive at Machhapuchhre Base Camp, an awe-inspiring setting in which to end our day’s trekking. (B)(L)(D)
We follow a classic route to a spectacular viewpoint, with peaks encircling us including close up views of the south face of Annapurna and of Annapurna South glacier. (B)(L)(D)
We begin our descent as we head for Bamboo, crossing a number of rocky avalanche chutes. (B)(L)(D)
Descending through rhododendron forest full of birds, we cross the Chhomrong Khola and climb up to Chhomrong village for a rest. We then climb for a short while before descending to Jhinnu Danda, our home for the night. (B)(L)(D)
We descend to the Kimrong Khola which we cross and then tackle a short ascent. Descending further we follow the Modi River until we reach Simai. From Simai we transfer back to Pokhara. (B)(L)
Pokhara is smaller and more relaxed than Kathmandu and is beautifully situated on the banks of Phewa Tal. Only foothills separate the town from the high mountains and there are superb views of the snow-capped Annapurna range. (B)
Today we take the scenic six hour journey back to Kathmandu. (B)
Our trip ends after breakfast. (B)
