Arrive in Kuching and meet your tour leader and group.
Head to nearby Bako National Park, famous for the proboscis monkey. (B)
Fly to Mulu National Park. Explore Deer Cave, home to millions of bats and swifts. There is a mass exodus of the bats at dusk which is a truly amazing sight to see. (B)
Mulu National Park has an incredible array of fauna and flora to explore. Members of the Penan tribe live within the park and are quite an elusive tribe. There is the opportunity to experience the 480 metre Canopy Walkway, the longest tropical canopy walkway in the world. (B)
Rise early for the dawn chorus in Mulu. Take a walk along some of the self-guided trails. After lunch fly to Kota Kinabalu, with free time on arrival. (B)
Today is free to enjoy some of the many activities Kota Kinabalu has to offer – snorkelling, diving or simply relaxing. (B)
Travel two hours by road to Kinabalu National Park. Stop en route at Nabalu market where villagers come to sell their produce and handicraft. You will also have a tour of a tea plantation where you will spend the night in a traditional Rungus, bamboo longhouse.
The journey to Sepilok is around five hours. Stop at the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary where you will have an up close look at this extraordinary animal. (B)
Visit the world famous Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary. It is the largest orangutan sanctuary in the world and helps to rehabilitate orphans and release captured orang-utans into the wild. There is also the option to visit Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre later on. (B)
Drive to Lahad Datu, then off-road to Danum Valley Conservation Area, home to many rare and endangered species of mammals and birds. Take an afternoon nature trek to try and spot orang-utan and other wildlife. (B)(D)
A full day will be spent exploring the trails, the 300m canopy walkway and waterfalls, whilst searching for wildlife in this remarkable place. There is a chance to see orang-utan, deer, giant flying squirrels, gibbons and more! (B)(L)(D)
Take a final early morning nature walk before departing for Kinabatangan River. This area has one of the highest concentrations of orang-utans and proboscis monkeys in Malaysian Borneo, with the chance to see much more. (B)(L)(D)
Be up with the animals at dawn for a wildlife cruise, followed by a trek. In the afternoon take another cruise to see what wildlife you can spot, including perhaps a crocodile. (B)(L)(D)
Journey to Sandakan by road stopping on the way at the bizarre Gomantong Caves. (B)
