You will be met and transferred to Batu Niah, stopping for a local lunch and to purchase gifts for your hosts. Niah Caves is one of the most important archaeological sites in the world, which reflect inhabitation from 40,000 years ago. On arrival at the park you will trek 3.5km to your unique homestay accommodation in an Iban longhouse in an authentic village. Visit the caves with a local, followed by a homely dinner prepared by your host family. (L)(D)
There is opportunity to participate in a range of seasonal activities today such as rice paddy farming, producing rice wine, weaving, learning about the Iban tattoo and even sword making. You will also learn the secrets of the jungle from the flora and fauna of the region. Enjoy an evening of song and dance. (B)(L)(D)
