Day 1
On arrival, you will be transferred from Morondava to the Marofandilia Reserve. The reserve covers 6420 hectares and is located in the Menabe region, 30km north of the town of Morondava. Among the endemic species sheltered by its forest is the Pyxis planicauda turtle, classified vulnerable and in danger of disappearance. The vegetation is composed of dense dry deciduous forest with three remarkable species of baobab tree. It shelters a large number of endemic species of local, regional and national fauna. Sifaka, an endemic lemur can be easily seen between 7am-9am when it is very active. Boenga, a dark redhead fur lemur is nocturnal and can only be seen when the sun goes down. You will spend the night in a camp ground in Marofandilia. (L)(D)
Day 2
After breakfast continue to Belo on Tsiribihina with lunch on the way. Your journey today involves four different ferries to cross the rivers. Arrive at the Tsingy late afternoon. (B)(L)(D)
Day 3
This morning, explore the Manambolo Gorge with traditional ‘pirogues’. After a picnic lunch, visit the small Tsingys and the caves. Tsingy in Malagasy language means ‘walking on the feet tips’. This is due to the extraordinary shape of these eroded lime stones. Look out for lemur species such as the Sifaka or the Gidro. You can also observe the characteristic xerophyte’s flora of this area with the pachypodiums succulents. (B)(L)(D)
Day 4
Today you will drive to the entrance of the massif. The Andamozavaky tour takes approximating four to five hours, which includes light shafts, the forest corridor and a walk on the roof of the tsingys. (B)(L)(D)
Day 5
Depart early this morning for the long drive back to Morondava, with lunch on the way. Arrive in Morondava late afternoon, just in time to see the sunset over the famous Baobab Alley. (B)(L)(D)
Day 6
The morning is at your leisure before transferring to the airport. (B)
