Day 1

LUANG PRABANG

On arrival transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a brief tour of Luang Prabang before climbing to the top of Mount Phousi for a panoramic view of the city. This evening shop at the hill tribe market.

Day 2

LUANG PRABANG

Start the day with a visit to the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum. Continue on foot to Wat Mai and Wat Xieng Thong, Laos’ most photographed temple. Continue to the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre. Climb to Wat Chompet for sunset. (B)

Day 3

LUANG PRABANG

Enjoy a Lao cooking class at Tum Tum Chung Restaurant followed by a visit Kuang Si Waterfall. (B)(L)

Day 4

LUANG PRABANG – KAMU LODGE

For early risers there is a special dawn visit to witness the long lines of orange-robed monks receive offerings of food from local residents. After breakfast, cruise the Mekong River to visit the mysterious Pak Ou Caves. Continue to Kamu Lodge. Located in a unique setting, Kamu Lodge offers activities including rice planting, gold panning and fishing in the Mekong. This eco-lodge provides a very different Laos experience. (B)(L)(D)

Day 5

KAMU LODGE – LUANG PRABANG – VIENTIANE

Return to the city by boat. This afternoon visit the Heritage Information Centre, a weaving village and Wat Pa Pho Pao, a forest retreat, before transferring to the airport for your flight to Vientiane. (B)(L)

Day 6

VIENTIANE

Your city tour begins at the serene Wat Sisaket, one of the most beautiful temples in the capital. Continue to Wat Phra Keo and the Presidential Palace and stop at Wat Simuang, the most popular temple in Vientiane. This afternoon, continue to the Patuxai Monument, Laos’ version of the Arc de Triumph. Continue to That Luang, the holiest site in Laos. (B)

Day 7

PAKSE

Depart early for your flight to Pakse. On arrival take a short tour of the city and then drive to the Bolaven Plateau via Tad Lo, an area of three separate waterfalls. This afternoon, continue to the impressive Tad Yuang and Tad Fane waterfalls. On return to Pakse, visit a tea and/or a coffee plantation. (B)(L)

Day 8

PAKSE – KHONG ISLAND

Visit Wat Phou, a spectacular pre-Angkorian temple that sits amidst the rice fields and waterways of southern Laos. Pass through Champasak, driving through streets lined with French colonial buildings.

Continue on to Khong Island, the biggest island in southern Laos and the start of the 4000 Islands region. This area is where the Mekong stretches over 14km wide and has thousands of islands between the river flows, cascades and rapids. (B)(L)

Day 9

KHONG ISLAND – PAKSE

In the morning visit Don Det and Don Khone, two very quiet islands without cars. Continue to Lippi Falls wedged between Done Khone Island and the Cambodian border. (B)

Day 10

PAKSE

Transfer to the airport. (B)
