Upon arrival you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel.
Explore the major sights including Fort Cochin. Visit the beautifully restored Mattancherry Palace, the 16th century Dutch Palace and the Jewish synagogue. Built in 1568, it’s one of the oldest existing synagogues in India. Visit a local home for a cooking lesson on traditional south Indian cuisine. This evening enjoy a local specialty of mutton or fish curry at History Restaurant at Brunton Boatyard Hotel. Tonight enjoy a Kathakali dance performance. (B)(L)(D)
Munnar is a former British hill station and home to some of the most impressive tea plantations in India. On arrival the rest of the day is free to explore on your own. (B)
Drive to the nearby tea garden, spend some time in the lush greenery and interact with local tea pickers, learning the importance of tea grown in the region, and also do a tea tasting. This afternoon visit Eravikulam National Park to spot some wildlife. (B)
Travel by road to Periyar, south India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary. Take a boat ride inside the sanctuary this evening and keep your eye out for some rare flora and fauna of the region. Enjoy a traditional south Indian dinner. (B)(D)
This morning visit a spice plantation before driving onto Alleppey. Alleppey’s sleepy, palm-shaded backwaters are Kerala’s hidden treasure. Cruise along these historic backwaters aboard a houseboat. (B)(L)(D)
Disembark your houseboat and continue by road to Trivandrum and the beach resort town of Kovalam. The remainder of the day is at leisure to enjoy the beach. (B)
This morning visit the Napier Museum and Sree Chitra Art Gallery housing over 1100 ancient works from the Rajput and Mughal Dynasty. Enjoy a unique lunch experience at an Indian coffee house. The remainder of the day is at leisure. (B)(L)
