Wildlife & Safari
Within the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh lies the Kanha and Pench National Parks. Kanha, one of India’s largest National Parks, is prime tiger country and also home to herds of animals. The teak jungle of Pench National Park was the backdrop for Rudyard Kipling’s ‘The Jungle Book’. Bandhavgarh is a world renowned tiger reserve and one of India’s most beautiful National Parks.

Fly from Delhi to Nagpur. Upon arrival in Nagpur you will be driven to Kanha National Park (around 5-6 hours). After arrival, take an afternoon jungle walk through Sal forests, large bamboo stretches and lush green meadows. (L)(D)
Depart on an early morning game drive to Kanha National Park to try and spot some of India’s wildlife. Kanha is one of India’s largest National Parks and located in the Maikal Hills of the Satpura Hills range in the south eastern part of Madhya Pradesh. In 1973, the conservation effort, Project Tiger, was launched with Kanha one of the nine reserves selected for the project. Regularly spotted species include the three-striped palm squirrel, common Langur, jackal, wild pig and black buck. Among other residents are striped hyena, leopard, mouse deer, porcupine, Chinkara gazelle, ant-eating pangolin, Sambar, chital and the highly endangered deer, the Hard-ground Barasingha. The day is yours to relax at your leisure before heading out on an afternoon game drive. (B)(L)(D)

A final opportunity to comb Kanha for wildlife on a morning jeep safari. Depart late morning for the drive to Pench. A typical Central Indian teak jungle, Pench National Park supports a rich variety of wildlife. Dominated by hills, forests and valleys, the park derives its name from the Pench River which flows from north to south and divides the park into almost equal halves. The park is well known as the inspiration behind Rudyard Kipling’s “The Jungle Book”. (B)(L)(D)
Explore the teak forests and open country of Pench National Park on morning and afternoon jeep safaris. Bisected by the meandering Pench River, the park supports a rich variety of wildlife including tiger, leopard, wild dog, Sambar, chital deer and brilliant bridlife. The park's open habitat not only lends itself to wildlife viewing, but it also offers striking views of the area's sheer beauty. (B)(L)(D)
