Pick up your car and explore Alaska's largest city.

Day 3

Anchorage - Seward

Drive along the scenic Cook Inlet and Turnagain Arm to Seward.

Seward

Watch for calving glaciers, sea lions, harbour seals and humpback whales as you cruise into Kenai Fjords National Park. (L)

Day 5

Seward - Sheep Mountain

Travel through the lush Matanuska Valley, and on to the Glenn Highway, one of the oldest and most scenic highways in Alaska.

Day 6

Sheep Mountain - Wrangell-St Elias National Park

Drive to the town of Chitina and board a bush plane for the scenic flight into Wrangell-St Elias National Park. The largest in the United States, this park includes four mountain ranges, nine of the country's sixteen highest peaks and extensive ice fields.

Day 7

Wrangell-St Elias National Park

Take a step back in time on a historical tour of Kennicott for a glimpse into what it was like to live and work in this remote wilderness.

Day 8

Wrangell-St Elias National Park - Fairbanks

Return to Chitina by bush plane this morning and continue driving north, following the Trans-Alaska Oil Pipeline.

Day 9

Fairbanks

Enjoy a day at leisure in Fairbanks. You may wish to add an optional visit to Alaska's Arctic or the Gates of the Arctic National Park today.

Day 10

Fairbanks - Denali National Park

Depart aboard the Alaska Railroad to Denali National Park before an afternoon wildlife tour to Kantishna. Learn about the history, wildlife and geology of the park and look out for moose, bear, wolves and caribou. (D)

Day 11

Denali National Park

Enjoy a guided hike, gold panning, mountain biking through the backcountry, or choose to add an optional bush plane flight. (B)(L)(D)

Day 12

Denali National Park - Anchorage

Depart by bus back to the park entrance before your afternoon Alaska Railroad journey to Anchorage. (B)

Day 13

Anchorage

Enjoy a bear viewing adventure to Katmai National Park or Lake Clark National Park, Spend the day on the lookout for bears, viewing from observation platforms at lakeside areas to see the bears feeding on salmon.

Day 14

Anchorage
