Uganda & Rwanda

Uganda – home to the Source of the Nile River and approximately half of the world’s surviving population of Mountain Gorillas.

These endangered animals live in the rainforests at elevations between 1520m and 3650m and contrary to popular belief, are not ferocious but are actually shy, gentle creatures and highly intelligent.

They form very strong bonds within family groups that are lead by a silverback. He is the dominant male to whom all other members of the family group defer to as the chief and protector, defending them against rival silverbacks or human predators.

When to go:

The best time to visit Uganda is late December to late February, as this time of year is generally dry (though hot). A close second is the June to September period.

Staff Experience

I've just returned from amazing Namibia. A highlight of this region are the Sossusvlei sand dunes.

These monumental dunes (the highest of which is 325m) were formed by multi directional winds blowing sand from the Kalahari Desert and the colours and forms are simply breathtaking.

Exhilarated we raced to the bottom of the dunes to a salt pan and back to our vehicle where we enjoyed a picnic breakfast, before heading back to our lodge for a relaxing afternoon.
