Zimbabwe, Zambia & Malawi

Zimbabwe offers the romance and majesty of the Victoria Falls; the arid but game-rich Hwange National Park; Lake Kariba with its fishing and game viewing lodges; and the beauty of the Eastern Highlands.

Lodges and camps tend to be small and personal; and open 4-wheel- drive vehicles are used. Walking safaris with an armed ranger offer a very special wildlife experience.

As yet untouched by commercialism, Zambia has some of the best game viewing and bird viewing experiences in Africa. As Zambia is increasingly becoming a popular destination for travellers to Africa, there is a wide range of accommodations and touring options becoming available from the budget style lodges right through to luxurious tented camps such as Moshi in the Kafue National Park.

You will feel like a real adventurer as you discover real “plains game” in a landscape that has been untouched since David Livingstone travelled through it. You will find birds and animals so rarely in contact with humans that they are unafraid and will approach you, as only seen in the likes of the Galapagos Islands.

When to go:

The best time for game viewing is May to August, which is cool and dry.  September to October are also great game viewing months but tend to be hotter.  The rest of the year is the wet summer months of November to April, not much game to view as they don’t have to concentrate around the waterholes, but a great time for bird watching.

Staff Experience

I've just returned from amazing Namibia. A highlight of this region are the Sossusvlei sand dunes.

These monumental dunes (the highest of which is 325m) were formed by multi directional winds blowing sand from the Kalahari Desert and the colours and forms are simply breathtaking.

Exhilarated we raced to the bottom of the dunes to a salt pan and back to our vehicle where we enjoyed a picnic breakfast, before heading back to our lodge for a relaxing afternoon.
